Linux: Chapter4: Graphical User Interface(GUI)

Desktop Environment

GNOME is a popular desktop environment with an easy to use graphical user interface. menu-based navigation and is sometimes an easy transition for at least some Windows users. it defaults desktop environment for many distributions including Red Hat Enterprise LinuxFedoraCentOSSUSE Linux Enterprise, and DebianAlmost enterprise version use GNOME.
KDE defaults in openSUSE.
UnityXfce and LXDE are based on GNOME

gdm (used on GNOME)
lightdm (used on Ubuntu
kdm (associated with KDE)

Let's say, GUI can be launched by entering those commands in terminal or console.
